Replay has gotten way out of control across most sports. It’s bad enough when some dork in a control room overturns something because it technically violated the rule, but not the spirit of the rule (like a skate blade being 1mm over the blue line, technically against the rules but doesn’t effectively change the outcome as it’s so small) but this one didn’t even violate the letter of the law. This was is no way directed to a teammate. Not at all. Why have that verbiage in the rule of it’s not going to be followed.
Reminds me of the “kicked” in goal against the oilers in 2022. Why put “distinct kicking motion” in the rules if you’re just going to ignore it.
