The Colorado trade proposal sends a centre back our way as a cap dump. That might make more sense.

I could for sure see a trade with Colorado being a fit for the flames.
To Colorado:
Lindholm (50% retained)
To Calgary:
2024 1st round pick
2024 2nd round pick
Calum Ritchie
Ryan Johansen (cap dump)
The prospect (Ritchie) in this scenario is more of an A-level prospect because the flames are taking back Johansen who is also signed for next season at $4 million. This deal saves Colorado cap space both now and next year.
Johansen could slide into Lindholm’s spot between Huberdeau and Sharangovich. Does not provide nearly as much defensive play or face off prowess but his offense should be fairly similar to Lindholm this year. Flames get a great package of picks and a top prospect while still having a chance to keep competing this year.
