Putting the entire loss on McVay might be a little harsh, but he mismanaged the clock to the point it left them with virtually no chance once they gave the ball back to Detroit with four minutes left. Calling timeouts to avoid a five yard delay penalty, especially in the second half of an obviously close game, is pretty much unforgivable. Take the penalty, the timeout matters way more. But once he botched it and they had three choices with four minutes left to either kick a 62 yard FG, go for 4th and 14, or punt, he chooses the worst option. It's not new for him either, McVay has a bad propensity for clock management errors.
