More to the point, that same effect is equally true for all stats: if Coleman stays out after his linemates, and the team gets a scoring chance, he gets an xGF boost, whether he was in the play or not.
ALL hockey stats are subject to the same flaw that you hold against +-.

For Coleman I've noticed it's been a lot, mainly because he was most often the designated line change forechecker (and Huberdeau tended to be the first guy off). His 5 shp are significant but that's mostly on him so not unfair.
It's more minuses that I sometime just see on the ice and think "how unfair".
