The trading game really has changed since the cap and its rules have finally become solidified. It's all about asset management now. Hopefully, the organization can think ahead and realize this.
On top of that, it's not like we have some massive sample size. How many times have the Flames rebuilt since the cap came into place? How many times have they been looking to maximize picks by trading off current assets? They've rebuilt once, and been buyer every other year?
Plus this year is special. The cap has been flat for multiple years, and that's never happened before. Cap is at a premium, the organization is retooling, hopefully they take advantage of that.
