The good thing for Markstrom is there's no urgency. If the deal isn't great, they can wait to see what the market is like next year. Sure there's a risk he falls off. There's also a possibility he gets event better, or a team with better assets to trade develops a need. Some team is going to flop in the POs, or maybe just miss the POs because of goaltending and have pressure to fix it. Next year the retention slots and room will open up again as well, assuming they have to use them on the 3 big pending UFAs this year.
