It's weird that the CBA doesn't specify if it's games played by the player or team. It just says the longer of 6 days or 3 games.
I guess since they don't specify it's games played by the player, it might mean it's 3 games by the team. My assumption was it meant games played by the player because that seems more logical... but the league isn't always logical.
Also, I guess they don't want players to be parked in the AHL indefinitely without clearing waivers, so it does make sense to be 3 scheduled games for that reason. It does seem odd that they didn't just wait 2 days to activate him if that's the case.
Either way, I'm sure they'll request the extension and he'll play both games this weekend.
