Overall the weakest show of the season, and clearly a show with an ending based on the series being picked up for another season. I don't think we'll fully get answers until next year on some of these things.

Some thoughts:

1) Why didn't Peter fly away?
I think it is because he couldn't control his powers. That said, they did an awful job of letting the audience know that.

2) Why not shoot Peter instead?
It was to allow Nathan to turn good. Obviously through the whole season it was up in the air as to whether Nathan would be good or bad. I thought the show would be better served having Nathan remain under the company and Mama Petrelli's thumb. Indeed, with Bennet defecting from the company, Hiro's dad defecting from the company, Nicki/Jessica turning from the company, and the others we've seen dead it seemed that Nathan as new young blood in the company would make great sense. And set up the classic brother vs brother.

However, They can turn it around and make it even more dramatic by having Nathan go back to his mother and the company. But as the future we saw earlier in the season...as Sylar not really Nathan. Though I don't think that will happen unless Sylar finds another shape shifter's brain (or grabs the one upstairs in the building...do his victims have to be still twitching?).

3)How does Sylar stop the bullets but not Hiro?

I agree this was poorly done. Why not have Hiro teleport the distance between them and take Sylar by surprise. Walking up to him and stabbing him just didn't make a lot of sense.

UNLESS, the future Sylar painted and saw required him to get stabbed in order for him to become more powerful. Maybe to meet the super villain Molly refuses to locate?

I'm also not so sure he necessarily dragged himself to the sewers. He may have had help from someone we haven't met yet.

4) my biggest problem I think: Why does Nikki hit Sylar with the parking meter?

as far as I remember, Nikki has never crossed paths with Sylar or Peter. She doesn't know who's who. Nor did she know about the whole bomb/no bomb plot (I think). So why when seeing two people in a stand off did she decide to go after Sylar and help Peter? Didn't make much sense to me. Perhaps I missed something.

Overall there was no final battle. Just two guys talking and some glowing hands. That was very disappointing.
