The whole idea of a draft is ridiculous. No eighteen year old should be forced to play for the team that drafted him. Outside of North America and Australia, I can't think of any countries that participate in this type of forced labour.
If a kid who wants to work at McDonalds downtown gets drafted at a franchise in Airdrie, he's supposed to move up there without complaint and just take it? And save me the whole argument about millionaires getting paid to play a game for children. The vast, vast majority of players drafted won't make it at the NHL level, yet they're legally bound to play for the team that drafted them, and their minor league affiliates.
