I'm assuming the returns being offered are underwhelming if this is the play. He's clearly been on the market this year since the original negotiations fell down so probably just a bunch of bad lowball offers coming in and signing him is considered the better move from a value perspective. It's too bad they couldn't get his AAV in under 7 though.
