Everyone clambering for full tear down is just blinded by the prospect of getting a high pick. Expecting young players to play like #### and 'tank' is far more cancerous. Putting them in a position to fail is far more cancerous. That takes years to undo.
This chorus of 'tank at all costs' is really goddamned annoying and incredibly short-sighted.

Fans are letting wishful thinking get the better of them. The Flames braintrust has given no indication that they’re interested in doing a ‘sell all the vets and dive for the bottom of the standings’ rebuild.
Lindholm, Tanev, and maybe Hanifin will be moved for picks and younger players. Maybe a minor deal moving out Dube in the summer. The cap space freed up will be used to sign a couple UFA d-men and a forward. The team won’t trade away picks for veterans for the next couple seasons. That’s likely what this retool will entail.
