The wranglers are a good team. The Flames aren't. Who exactly is Coleman mentoring? Sure, Pittsburgh had Mario to mentor Crosby, but they didn't go out and get Mario because they got Crosby. They tanked to get a HOF guy like Lemieux and were lucky enough to win the lottery and get Crosby.
The Flames don't have a Mario OR a Crosby. They have Blake Coleman and some young players. It's not like we have bedard or celebrini and we're debating about keeping our HOF star player. Blake Coleman. He's good, but come on. Trading Coleman will actually give this team a better shot at getting a star prospect because they'll get a better pick without him PLUS they'll get assets for trading him. Worry about mentors after you have someone to actually mentor.
What if trading Coleman today guarantees you the pick to get Tij Iginla? Do you not mKe that deal because you want Coleman to mentor Samuel Honzek???
Some people just fall in love with players and don't want to make changes. It's the "let's give this team one more chance" or "anything can happen" BS that kills this team.
