Maybe those players should be referred to as mentors then.
Veteran just means someone who has played in the league for awhile.
Not a big deal if it is just experience.
But acquiring and retaining mentors for your prospects as they enter the league is incredibly important.
The role that Brett Sutter plays for the Wranglers is that sort of distinction.
Invaluable in a sense because of the mentor he is, not because of how many years he has played in the league.
