Nobody else could give Nylander anything close to $92M - which is a $13M AAV on a 7 year contract. Treliving really isn't taking advantage of the benefit of the 8th year in these negotiations IMO. Really feels like this contract should have been at most the same as Huberdeau and around $10.5M. But he's getting an extra $1M.
Just because someone signed an $11M contract 6 years ago, it doesn't mean they're an $11M player today.

Nylander is an $11M player. McDavid is probably a $15M player. Matthews' new deal is $13M. Pasta's the only realy argument you can make, as he just signed for $11M - but that was a discount, and Nylander is just fair market value.

You also have to remember that this contract was negotiated with everyone knowing that the cap is going way up. Today's $11M is very quickly going to be tomorrow's $9M.
