Yeah, but Conroy and crew I believe are (hopefully) resetting goals/expectations. So lip service being what it is, at the end of the day it shouldn't be about being a "playoff team", that's not a high enough bar.
We know Conroy is actively working on trading away a number of pending UFAs. The team is operating with a bigger picture view (yes!), so I think we should be happy with where things are/trending. So I think you have to park the lip service and acknowledge it for what it is - ensuring management doesn't allow a lazy atmosphere to set in within the locker room.
Positives this year? The youth being further along that most of us expected. Work ethic is on-point, and there are positives coming from some of the veterans (Huby slowly putting it together, Marky's bounce back, Naz being great, Coleman legitimately taking a step forward).
What's happening right now is just...fine. I hope the team locks in their own 1st as a top-10 pick after the UFAs are traded. Add that top-10 pick to the returns for the UFA and things begin to start looking brighter. Perhaps Huska develops during this year as well, and becomes better as he moves forward.,
