The registration numbers between Canada and the USA are quite similar. With the growth of NCAA D1 hockey, the pool of high level players available to get into coaching their youth is quite large. That is a pretty big advantage.

I think it would take a Unicorn of the Unicorns for a kid make a National Team, or get drafted, without spending $20+K a year (conservative) from the time they turn 14. US might already be ahead of Canada right now IMO.

If you do a best on best 7 game series I think US might take it.

Better goaltending, and might be more talented at forward and defense. Would really come down to if McDavid, Mackinnon, and Makar could carry them.
