I absolutely hated cilantro for years, especially after visiting Mexico in university on a binge trip. The salsa was inedible because of it. Everything was vile.
Avoided it for years until I accidentally had it again. Now I love it. No other food I’ve changed my view that sharply. It is a weird flavour that needs more study.
How do you hate most asian food?
Western Chinese is pretty bad, the mall stuff especially. Ate at South Silk Road once and that was good, or go with a Chinese dude who orders better stuff than chicken balls (god those are awful).
I think Viet is best. Thai good too, Korean is probably better than what I’ve had, although they seem to have the most evolving food (here). Do Korean youth seek restaurant careers more than Chinese? Because it seems that way.
If you want to be converted though, go see Sanjay at The Himalayan. Beat food and better family.
