When discussing this with a surgeon on the ward, who was quite dismissive of our concerns, I said I'd go through work to get the MRI. He said that was unnecessary and "a lot of paperwork" and they'd get her in for an MRI "right away".

We got the letter today. Her MRI is scheduled for February, 2025! We were shocked and thought it must have been a typo. A call confirmed that no, 2025 is the next available appointment.

What the actual ****? How can there be such a backlog in diagnostic imaging? Is everyone working taking a coffee break after every patient?

If it is indeed cancer, I wonder how long it will be before treatment, 2026?
Please let us know here if paying for her to get the MRI privately is an issue for you. I would be willing to kick in for that and I suspect others would as well.
