I watched a forgotten film noir from the 40s I, Jane Doe. The story is about a woman who has a forged passport who shoots and kills a married soldier who recently got home from the war. She offers up no defense as to why she did it, won't give a name (hence why she is called Jane Doe) and wants to be found guilty and sent to the chair. Through the trial there are many twists and turns in regards to the story that keep you guessing up until the end. Film noir is a genre I'm slowly getting into, and while I haven't seen a lot, this one was very entertaining and packs alot into its only 85 minute runtime.
What's interesting about this title, is that it was largely forgotten Republic picture, until Martin Scorsese presented it at the MOMA a couple of years back.
