Took my 8 year old to see Aquaman 2 today because he really wanted to see it. Just an absolute chore to get through. Here's a shortlist of reasons as to why:
-terrible acting
-"bro" jokes throughout
-every hero trope you can possibly imagine, executed poorly
-CGI everything, and not great CGI at times either
-neverending odd looking sea creatures with zero explanation
-magical baddie with absolutely zero explanation as to their existence
-actual baddie's reasons don't really make sense
-did I mention the truly horrific acting?
-characters land in peril for almost no reason, battle in the most tumultuous and hard to follow manner, and get out of peril easily and with almost no explanation
-babies in peril...come on
-good guys should be seriously hurt or dead, but never actually come close to it, so no actual peril is ever really experienced
-incredibly sanctimonous usage of climate change as a major plot point
-whales as weapons, and not in the way you would think
-did I mention the truly horrific and painful acting? It's worth another mention.
1/10, only because Randall Park was in it and did a tiny bit of good stuff (he was also seriously misused).
Oh my god, please never ever make another one of these movies.
