It’s only 2 years worth of chips. NJ is young enough to gamble on that - who’s around who is better who they can get?
I don’t think the Flames are too fussed over Markstrom’s cap hit over the next couple years anyway. They aren’t going to be UFA bidders and they don’t have any big extensions coming. If Markstrom can get a good return, great, if not, it doesn’t matter (though they have to make room for Wolf).
