I was very close to picking up a copy of Ark Nova for the family, but held off for fear of it being too "heavy" for my six year old. He does keep up with us on Catan nights, and has even legitimately won. I thought the kids would love the idea of curating their own zoo because they love animals and gaming in general.

Thoughts?
Would not recommend Ark Nova for a 6-year old unless the kid is an absolute genius. Wouldn't even recommend it for most adults unless I know they have heavyish game tolerance.

But Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Splendor, Sushi Go (Party is the better version), King of Tokyo and Love Letter might work. Maybe even 7 Wonders (normal or Architects).

I have not played but have heard good things about My Little Scythe. For a lighter zoo-themed game there's Zooloretto, which I have also not played.
