There's no doubt he's an extremely skilled offensive forward but I really wonder what he is thought of around the league by GMs and scouts. He's very one dimensional, doesn't use his size, doesn't seem to elevate his teammate's play, doesn't come across as a good teammate and strikes me as a bit of an #######. Quite a bit of an #######. He's a perfect Oiler! I bet his value isn't as high as I sometimes think anywhere else but in Edmonton.
NMCs will come into play if it gets there in a Drai trade. And Oilers won't take heaps of draft picks.
Just like Hall got a terrible return from NJ, Oilers will have to take what market is giving.

Like it has been since the second Lowe asked Comrie to pay money back to the Oilers to be traded, no agent with a client that chases anything more then stability or money, would sign there as a FA. Same goes for waiving NMCs. The ones that thought things would be different and chose Edmonton and got sold by some snake oil (Pronger, Erik Cole, Perron) and realized they wanted out almost immediately l, were good enough to get a return traded away, other buried in minors (Souray).

I can see him being traded by the Oilers as a business decision if it guaranteed McDavid re siging, but then McDavid has no one (well, except his junior coach, junior linemate, and former agent as president of hockey ops, this year at least) so why would he sign off on Leon leaving for some magic beans, as no one of any appreciable talent, unless on their rookie deal, won't have a NMC and won't not wave it to go to Edmonton.
