Toews’ comments about guys on the Avs thinking they are playing well but not playing the system makes me wonder if they would go after Kadri. There’s nobody in the league that would be more familiar with their system. However, what is the acquisition cost? Say the flames were willing to retain $1 million on the Kadri contract and take back one of these guys that are not playing the system (Craig Button speculates that it is Johansen and Druin). Would that scenario return a first round pick + prospect if Kadri keeps playing well? Will the flames want to trade Kadri with how well he has been playing with the kids?
I know the simpler target for the avalanche is Lindholm. But if they were interested in Kadri just as much or more, Lindholm could then be traded elsewhere for even more assets. Obviously this is going for the scorched earth rebuild that the flames have never really done before but it could be possible. I’m just really not sure what the flames could get for Kadri.
