If your standard is that a player has to be THE solution to his team's problems, then no team should ever sign any player, anywhere, at any time.

He certainly hasn't been THE solution, so by that standard, no.
By the standard of a veteran player returning from a major injury without a training camp? That remains to be seen. Some of those signings work out and some don't, but they don't usually look good for the first few games. Judging the signing on three weeks' worth of results seems to me like a fool's errand.
