It was *literally" brought up by the insiders how Kane/Kane's agent and the Wings discussed his trade deadline plans before signing him and how both parties looked at it as a win-win whether he helped the Wings into the Playoffs (again, not his fault for their record under him) or got them a free asset at the deadline.
Either way, it's going exactly according to the plan that was discussed *publicly* before Kane even put on a Wings jersey.
