Had to happen. That team has seriously underperformed all year. They have a good roster that should be right in the playoff picture (injured Chabot and mediocre goaltending notwithstanding), but for whatever reason they just haven't taken a serious step forward and in some ways are regressing.
Clearly Smith was never the long term solution, but is Martin the answer? Maybe just a stabilizing veteran coach, but I don't think he'll turn them around overnight.
