Sylar could see the future - I surmise he knew he would survive the confrontation, and was only trying to cause Peter to destroy the city. But yeah - I didn't like his "escape" either. Look out! He's very slowly crawling away into the sewer! If only there was an obvious bloody trail we could somehow follow to find him!
Beyond that, the show delivered IMO.
