After a lifetime of contact sports and running, my 40's was when my body started fighting me. Of course an office job and not doing all of the smart things to help did me no favours. I actually feel better in my early fifties but surgery is the most responsible for that (hips).
It's completely normal for people to start having issues in their 40's. Especially if you were hard on your body when younger or did nothing when younger then tried to make up for it as you got older. Genetics and body weight are also a factor.
