Because they probably aren’t making up for the loss of physical activity but that alone doesn’t put them at a greater risk of injury at work than someone working in a fast paced job that requires constant heavy manual labour.

Sure the potential of acute injuries is 1000% greater in labour jobs ( hence my bummed foot for life), but the chronic wasting that happens when your a desk jockey will #### you up top to bottom. Soft is the right word.
I'm lucky, I do desk work for my 9-5. but every morning, evening, and weekend I have endless manual labour at the farm. It's not even close which one makes me feel like #### at the end of the day. Given that I use Propper PPE at both jobs ( hearing is a huge exception for example).

The overwhelming majority of desk job injuries are far more easily preventable than the ones in manual labour jobs. There are a number of employers that have both office and clerical departments as well as manual labour positions working out of the same facility, I highly doubt you could find a single example of this type of workplace where the WCB claims for repetitive strain injuries from the office and clerical positions outnumber the WCB claims from the manual labour positions.
