At the surface level it's kind of silly that refrigerators are so astronomically expensive, when they basically do one thing. Where you can get a pretty decent dishwasher for under 1000$ and they have a lot of moving parts and functions.
It reminds me of a Brian Regan bit on refrigerator salesmen
"This keeps your food cold for 1000$"
"But if you come over here let me show you THIS fridge that keeps your food cold for 2000$"
