One thing that gets lost on those that rally against the public sector, is that the public sector needs to compete for talent from the same talent pool. There is no talent pool for public sector and one from private sector; they both draw from the same well.
I think everyone should have options in both. However, I do think the public sector needs to offer competitive wages, hours, benefits, and long-term stability to attract the best. If we're going to have both public and private options, that needs to hold extra true.
