One thing this organization seems to have dialed-in is identifying exactly what level of hockey their prospects should be playing at to maximize development. Kerins is one example - team decides he's not quite up to snuff in his first year pro, so he plays the whole year in the ECHL. Now he's finding his footing at the AHL and could be on track to eventually play some games on the big team.
Zary is another example. The moment he proved he was too good for the AHL (10 points in 6 games to start this year) he is called up to the Flames.
It's easy to take pot shots at the team up North, but you look at a player like Holloway and I feel very confident in saying that he would be a much different player if he came up through our system.
