Think they definitely goofed the coaching hires if the plan was to be competitive this season.
That's not to say that Love would be the answer either.
But they needed a cheap hire with Darryl on the books this season and next. Maybe they interviewed 30 or 40-something guys but seems like it was a two horse race for Conroy all along. He could've consulted more people on the out of town candidates.
Savard also strikes me as a hire that didn't involve much deliberation. Last years PP woes needed to be answered with a solid and proven coach with an NHL resume. They rolled the dice on inexperienced guys in both positions and the results probably shouldn't be surprising.
