100% agree. The peril of playing hardball is being left alone at the altar at 12:01pm after the deadline and having an asset walk for free. Look at dan hamhuis. Canucks played hardball and he walked for nothing. The closer we get to the deadline and these players are still on our roster, the more nervous we should feel. We play hardball and no one meets our price, then we are left with nothing. Our ufas are not the only players in play and teams will have options. I’m a fan of getting business done ahead of the deadline. There was lots of howling over the return we got for Zadorov, imagine what it would be if Conny held firm on his price and he walked for nothing. And Conny has 3 players he should be moving, not just one. So lots of moving parts and juggling required.
