This team is not 1 Fantilli away from being a contender. I needed a better core and that's why I made the trade.
Seider immediately steps in as our #1 dman at 22 years of age. Necas, at 24, is a top 6 forward for the Sabres and will line up on Tkachuk's other wing for a long time I hope. The two prospects are opportunities. Maybe they pan out but if not, we have added two young, top players to build upon. Vrana was a throw in to balance salaries.
Thanks to Jiri for the easy negotiation. Here's hoping it's a win-win for us.

Trading Fantilli is always tough, but I hear you. It's way more fun winning some games than sitting there collecting draft picks. It is doable, it is just a long process, and often not as fun.
You made a good move, you got a piece now to help you win and got a #1 dman, so it's tough to argue with the move.
From Grant's side, he has enough depth to make the move. And arguably his defense core is pretty crowded with top young guys. So it made sense to shift that a bit
Well done guys
