A healthy pipeline sustains itself because you don't have to trade picks to fill your roster, so you have more picks to keep the pipeline active.
Similarly the deficit spending is a vicious negative cycle.
and without beating a dead horse, you have to eventually have some faith in your in house solutions (which I get is part of the feedback cycle) and try them out as opposed to assume they can't be good because they are under 30 and haven't played 200 mediocre games in the NHL previously
