Who is that Player?

Welcome back to "Who Is That Player?" Yes, I'm still mad that Walker Duehr was unceremoniously scratched after the last Flames profile. Nevertheless we look to rebound with an examination of that other famous Flame, Martin Pospíšil.

The 6'2 winger was Impospisil to miss in the last meeting between the two teams as the Calgary attack seemed to revolve around him for some reason, playing 16:42 total and spending significant time on the powerplay.

Breaking into the NHL as a 24 year old rookie, the Slovakian with arguably the most difficult-to-pronounce name in the league was originally drafted in the 2018 4th round by Calgary, 5 picks after Adam Mascherin and 1 pick before Curtis Douglas.

Boasting no scouting reports whatsoever on his Eliteprospect page, Pospíšil was already in North America at the time of his drafting by way of playing in the USHL. Other than a brief stint back in Slovakia during COVID he's toiled in the AHL since 2019.

The Flames board is another one that fails to produce a summer prospect ranking so can't help you there. The closest Stars comp I can think of would be if Fredrik Karlström was playing in the NHL Top 9.

Preemptive Window Shopping

It would be really nice for the Stars to crush Calgary tonight. For revenge, to start a winning streak. But also because the Flames are 5-2-1 in their last 8 games and have crawled back into the playoff picture, and I need them to start losing again so they decide to be sellers at the deadline since they have two of the best potential defensemen trade targets the Stars could get (and one that is a huge trap).

Oh hey, the Flames traded Zadorov to the Canucks. So now we don't have to worry about Nill trading for Zadorov and we don't have to worry about Zadorov throwing dirty hits on any of our players tonight. Win win.

At least we don't have to deal with Zadorov tonight

Yeah, Calgary can just send him over to the Stars team plane after the game, that would be great.

Grudge Match

It seems to me that this roster doesn’t have a short memory for embarrassing losses or cheap shots. I expect a hungry-for-revenge Stars team tonight.

I’m glad Sevvy called out Robo during the jets game. A lot of fans are blaming our dmen, but forwards not tracking back is leading to a lot of chances. Several of the goals against in the Calgary game were because of this. Our forwards can’t just shrug their shoulders and let Otter handle it. They have to be better at picking up the open man.

C’mon, Road Warriors…get a little bit of sweet revenge in their barn tonight. I know everyone of them, from Otter on out, wants a redo from last Friday. Get the 2 pts, boys…Go Stars!!

They don't fear our checking line. And they don't respect our defense. So they're playing on their blue line and constantly attacking.
If other teams are watching, we're in trouble. We don't have an answer for this strategy.

We do not want to hit them in our zone. Just let them skate around like it is a pond hockey game. Wtf is our forwards problems with hitting in our zone. You cannot just let them skate around unharrassed free and clear with no knocking them off the puck.

Just a scheduled start for Wedgie I guess? Assuming nothing is wrong with Otter, I would've really, really liked to have seen #39 between the pipes tonight. Not just coming off the shutout, but you know he would've been hungry for another shot at Calgary after the way the last game went.

i knew better than to watch a dallas calgary game. but ive been so frustrated by this month that i havent watched dallas play the last 5 or so games. i did it to myself honestly.

I want Nils to succeed so bad but my god we just completely tanked his confidence or something. He looked absolutely fine literally 10 days ago.

Jim Nill doubling down on that subpar defensive squad this season is absurd. He has backed himself into a corner and will have to overpay to get out of this mess. Fine. Just do something. It's been like this for long enough.

I feel like everyone's been holding Jake to the standard of that playoff series against Calgary, and I knew for a fact that play like that couldn't come consistent for any goaltender throughout and entire season. I did feel like with us resting him more this season and Wedgewall getting some more games he might be more consistent, but maybe i'm overdoing it and not allowing him some error room as a professional hockey goaltender in the worlds toughest league. I guess the next couple months will let us know.

Well-deserved win by the Flames...never gave up and their speed and passing took over the game for the most part. Hey, the season is a marathon.

Can we fire DeBoer already? He's destroying this team. His passionless style of hockey where nobody throws a body check is a template on how to build a losing team. He continually plays Suter who not only misses assignments left and right but drags Miro down with him. Robo and Hintz, despite putting up points, continue to struggle and instead of trying to switch the lines up a little he rolls out the same thing time and time again. They could win every game for the rest of the regular season. Playing DeBoer hockey won't win in the playoffs EVER! There's a reason he's a career loser

gotta be honest, him and robo more often than not look like they spent the offseason at the lake pounding beers

I haven't said this in a long time, but our coach lost us that game. He chose to go full turtle in the 3rd, he chose to sit Nils and double shifted 2 most of the 3rd. After Mush scored we were outshot like 20-1 and out-processed for the final 10 minutes and overtime.


It was 1000% the same #### we saw 2 years ago. 1000% the coach telling the team to play that way.


I don't like it one bit. PDBowness has to stop...he has to!!!
