Really it depends on what else happens...because you only have 3 retention spots.

So if you think the market for Hanifin, Lindholm, and Tanev with retention is better than the market than Zadorov with retention, then you shouldn't retain on Zadorov.

So then if you have a spot for Zadorov where you don't have to retain, and you think the the return is still acceptable, you are actually smart to make that move.

However that would be giving this organization the benefit of the doubt, when they have refused to retain a big portion of salary on any trade in their past.
