Despite the team getting caved in when he’s on the ice and allowing more shots and shots attempts than his line generates when he’s on it. His advanced stats are bad and his production is bad. Even in his limited ice time, he’s not doing anything of value.

Replacement level is the level at which a player could be replaced by a player in the AHL and the team should see no drop-off in contribution to goals and wins.

As I said, he’s put himself in a position where he’s playing himself off the team. Every single forward on the team is outplaying him by some metric. “He doesn’t make a lot and he was free” doesn’t justify him keeping his spot over a call-up.
