I swear I'm the only person in my family who regularly takes themselves to the airport, either by doing Park & Jet, or calling an Uber. It's really not that hard, or as expensive as they're thinking. Especially if you're already buying plane tickets and going on a trip.

I have good options for quid pro quo. Sometimes I do it on purpose to maximize time on the trip, but I will always offer to taxi/Uber myself than ask for a ride in a manner that inconveniences others though. If they insist, I won't say no.

People are weird this way and a lot don't see big picture. I first noticed it when people would rather pay more on Amazon with free shipping than a lower combined fee if shipping was $2.99. Nope. Against my beliefs to pay shipping. Yo! It's more cash out of your pocket. Wtf is that logic?
But yeah, lots of that with travel.
I just had an argument with my wife. I'm sending her to visit friends in Vancouver as a gift and she's wondering if she should leave earlier/depart later. Given than the whole trip is going to be like 52 hours total, that difference of 5-6 hours total time over there is going to be an additional 8-12% trip duration and time spent with those friends she rarely sees. For $75 more total (additional flights and taxi/uber), it's worth the extra.
"Oh ####, I don't have to go to airport as early and can have dinner together. That's really nice. Oh, I can have a late dinner with them on Friday at 6 or 7 PM vs showing up at like 10 PM?"... worth the money. Horrible place to nickel and dime.
Some people don't think this way at worse levels and I just shake my head. Saving $300-400 on an international flight by increasing your travel time from like 13-15 hours direct to like 20-26 hours indirect is idiotic. You're losing half to a full day which is more than 10% of time on the ground for maybe less than 10% of the cost. That plus the extra pain in the ass for transfers.
This is fine for young people who want to save a few hundred so they have that money to spend while traveling. But for seniors? God dammit, fly direct you fools!
