Take a look at the top of the bathroom stall toilet paper dispenser the next time you go to a busy bar past midnight. A lot of people are using cocaine. In B.C. personal use is now legal.
And no, you cannot just straight up fire a person for substance abuse issues. That creates all sorts of human rights issues. If it was just about Perry using drugs, they'd be giving him a personal leave and allowing him to seek treatment. It's different if you get caught by police/border guards or in a Kuznetsov type situations, with escorts. Even then, the attitudes have changed a lot. I don't, for example, see Mike Richards' contract getting terminated today.
Perry has either done something very awful, or the Blackhawks are setting themselves up for a defamation lawsuit.
Edit: after reading the statment from the organization, my guess is sexual harrassment of someone on the staff. The Blackhawks are on high alert after the recent scandals. The mention of "Culture" and "Accountability" is really leaning into this being an harrassment issue.
