As of right now they have 18 picks in the next three drafts. That's a 3 pick deficit.
An 8-10-3 team that is up against the cap and won a total of 1 playoff series in the last 8 years should not currently have a draft pick deficit.

I like the logic here, Flames should definitely be prioritizing picks along with young guys that can hopefully contribute sooner than later.
Steinberg has been talking a lot about trading for potential defensemen like Clarke in LA, Zellweger in Anaheim, and others. The more I hear that the more I'm on board. A mixture of high picks and prospects would be a home run for trades involving Lindholm and Hanifin. I think Tanev and Zadorov trades should probably just be for picks.
I'm still not convinced that Brandt Clarke could be had out of LA just because of the draft pedigree but if that kind of offer is out there for a highly touted prospect I'd support that 100%.
