Children idolized Luke Skywalker (or at least his story) for a reason. I was one of them.
You could let everything else go about the TLJ, all those petty nerd gripes (albeit many warranted), and it still would be an insult to star wars because of that character assassination.
When the actor that's owned the role since the 70s is vocal about how it "wasn't their character" you know they ####ed it in the ###.
