Gee willikers, I think what you're contending is that an inconsistent goalie on the wrong side of 30, who is the *checks notes* fifth highest paid active goalie in the NHL, would be much more enticing as a tradeable asset if the team currently holding his rights retained some of his cap hit.
That's exactly what I'm contending, Jay. I'll come clean: I don't really believe Jordan Binnington is an objectively better goalie than Jacob Markstrom.

I only said so to elicit further comparison, and let others figure out for themselves that Markstrom is a thoroughly mediocre goaltending option (just like Binnington) and there would be few suitors for a trade.
