Beyond the Boxscore: After fighting back for the win Calgary sees themselves just outside playoff race

It’s a Team Game – The Flames have found some semblance of a structure in their own zone, collapsing into a box and giving up the outside. It’s a good way to limit high danger chances but makes for a pretty stale breakout. It’s working for the Flames though as they’ve finally found some chemistry on all their lines making good passes to get through the middle of the ice. They just sometimes lack the speed to avoid a dump-in. I’m impressed by this teams ability to have fought back so much already – they are hitting a stride with their play.

Seravalli: The Calgary Flames are open to offers ‘on a whole bunch of different things’

“I’ll tell you what, the Calgary Flames are ready. They’re open to ideas. They’re open to offers, on a whole bunch of different things that they have in their arsenal to try and make changes. It’s not that the interest level hasn’t been there, but there’s been such a lack of significant, real talk that they’re sitting here going ‘Okay, I understand that it’s mid-to-late November now but if you want to do something, you got to actually make it happen.’ It takes two to tango and it’s not for hemming and hawing on the Flames part that they’re sitting around saying ‘Well you know, might want to see what we have here, we could potentially be a playoff team.’ That’s not their thought process. It’s like, alright, let’s make a deal, and no one’s willing to do that yet.”

Nashville Predators "Owe One To" Visiting Calgary Flames

The Predators played the Flames on November 7 and lost 4-2. The Predators were up 2-0 after the first period at the Saddledome, but four unanswered goals revealed weaknesses and inconsistencies in Nashville's play and the Predators haven't forgotten.
