I realize that, I just don't think he is worth the ask.
As stated above, I don't see enough offensive upside in his game to justify such a massive contract.
Smooth skating, top 4, in the right age range are all positives, no doubt.
Limited offensive ability, having a tendency to make costly mistakes and asking for #2 D money offset those positives in a lot of ways.
I realize the fact we only have two dmen signed next season gives him even more internal value and leverage but I still have my doubts.
He's a frustrating player because you can see the talent and there are games sprinkled in where he is playing at his peak and looks amazing. Unfortunately, he just reverts back to the slightly above average dmen we see most nights after these breakout games.
Maybe its me expecting him to be something he is not, which I can admit and give him a break on...But if he is asking for that kind of a contract he will be paid to be that guy I'm expecting.
