For my family we took it a sign to get with the times and and just adjust to using less plastic. pretty simple.

Plastic bags? No, doesn't really impact me that much. I used to recycle them as garbage bags for smaller rooms, but I can buy the smaller garbage bags. I've been using re-usable shopping bags for years so the transition wasn't an inconvenience at all.
Straws? Gotta admit I'm glad we'll have the choice to use them. I'm on record as not being a fan of paper/cardboard straws. They are OK in a restaurant setting or having a regular drink, and I'm fine with the sippy-cup type fast-food containers they have at places like Costco. However, the paper straws are useless for things like slurpees and smoothies. Unless you pound your slurpee it will freeze in the straw if you leave it for a couple minutes, and it turns into pulp in both a slurpee and smoothie which means it's useless to stir the drink.
And my cat likes to play with those plastic spoon straws when I'm done with them. Won't someone think of the cats?
