I don't think he really chose Columbus. I think the handling of that free agency ticket was a massive blunder by him and his agent. They miscalculated and ended up landing somewhere that was never intended but still got him a reasonable pay day. From what I recall, Columbus wasn't even a suitor -- they called the team.
I bet CBJ wasn't on his list at all heading into free agency.
