I was on the road when the game ended, and just got home with these incisive bits of reporterage:
1. It's really, really hard to out-tank a team that has LTIRetired its highest-paid player and biggest star. I mean, we all know Carey Price is perfectly healthy, and I'm sure he'll be back up and playing again just as soon as the Habs lock down that #1 overall pick.
2. It would be the mostest Flamesiest thing ever to trade for Josh Anderson, as certain CPers would like. How big a bum is he? He can't even score on Jakob Markstrom, that's how big.
3. Markstrom has finally lost whatever athleticism he ever possessed. For the last year and a half we've been watching him scramble to get out of the way of the puck. Now he's even too slow to do that.
4. I didn't like the first goal at all. Nazem from Zary and Zadorov. No hockey player worth his jock ever had a Z in his name, except Gretzky, and he pronounced his like an S. Three Z's on the ice at once is three too many. What are these guys, Nazis or something? Huska should have declined the goal and apologized to the officials.
5. This team is so hopelessly bad it called up a Popsicle from the minors… and is giving him a regular shift. I hang my head in shame.
6. And of course, two more points that we desperately needed not to have. Ecch.
Next time these two teams meet, they should both just forfeit and decline the points. Everyone will leave much happier, except the chumps who paid for tickets.
